Thanks to close cooperation between DB Cargo, DB Cargo Scandinavia, and Trafikverket, 835-meters-long freight trains are now running between Germany and Sweden!
Up to last week, freight trains this long stopped at Fredericia, in the Jutland. Now, they go all the way across the Øresund! This is great news for our Corridor and for international rail freight traffic as these trains, which run six days per week, boost capacity by up to 13% compared to their shorter, 740-meters-long versions.
Our Team – Kosta Tsesmetsis, Christoffer Hansson, and Rainer Wolf – had the privilege to witness this special moment together with DB Cargo and Trafikverket representatives, including DB Cargo Scandinavia’s CEO Birgit Wirth.
A big shout-out to our partners for pushing forward the boundaries of rail freight! These are the success stories that make our Corridor highly competitive and market-oriented. The future of freight runs on rail!
