Due to a damaged switch caused by a derailed freight train, trains can currently no longer enter Munich East station (marshalling yard) from the direction of Munich South. DB Netz AG diverts most of the freight trains to Austria and Italy via Munich Nordring. These trains will be slightly delayed. The remaining freight trains that have to go to the Munich East marshalling yard, for example to change locomotives, need up to three hours longer.
Passenger traffic is no longer affected.
The marshalling yard is expected to be fully accessible again by the end of May, as it is a switch with a special design that has to be replaced now.
