Double-track extension through Hallsberg in Sweden completed!

The Swedish Infrastructure Manager, Trafikverket, is currently rebuilding 50 kilometers of the railway between Hallsberg and Degerön through what is known as Godsstråket genom Bergslagen (i.e., the freight line through Bergslagen), where the aim is to convert single-track railway into a double-track railway. The works are estimated to be completed in 2029.

On the 10th of December, Trafikverket announced that a 4 km double-track extension through Hallsberg had been completed. It is an essential step towards the increased capacity for rail freight at this vital part of the Swedish railway network.

As a part of the ScanMed rail freight corridor, the newly completed work ensures that Hallsberg, located in Örebro County, will play an even more efficient function in the flow of goods.
